Ki-61 Hien (Tony) - Page 14

The Ki-61 engine is a copy of the German Daimler-Benz DB601 Inverted-V12. Germany sent several aircraft to Japan with the latest being a Me109E model that was tested by Kawasaki at the Gifu factory. This engine has some blocking plates with Japanese writing on them on the lower part of the engine pictures on this page. These blocking plates cover the 6 exhaust ports on this side of the engine. There are similar blocking plates on the other side.
